Anyone who has booked cheap flights to Thailand may be pleased to learn that the country is also among the cheapest holiday destinations in the world.

People who are still saving their pennies for their holidays may   be  interested in STA Travel’s list of the cheapest countries to visit.

Among the top cheap travel destinations is Thailand, where tourists can expect to get a pint of beer, a meal, a bus ride, a night’s stay in a hostel and a sightseeing tour for as little as £27.40.

This could appeal to anyone holidaying on a budget this summer, with cheap flights to Thailand also available.

But Thailand was not the cheapest place for a break, according to the travel agent’s survey.

Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia topped the list, with the same expenses coming in at just £13.09.

In what could be good news for football fans, Cape Town in South Africa also made it into the top eight, costing slightly more than the Thai capital at £31.68.

South Africa will host the World Cup this year, which kicks off on June 11th in Johannesburg when the home side will take on Mexico, while the second match of the competition will take place in Cape Town.
