Thailand has once again been shown to be one of the most popular places for people to head off on holiday.

Thailand has reclaimed its spot as the number one holiday destination for those heading off on a break with Travelmood.According to the firm, the country is now its most searched-for destination, taking it back to the spot where it had been before April this year. Overall, more than 30 per cent of holidaymakers using the Travelmood site searched for Thailand during June, a sharp rise compared to the 16 per cent who queried holiday in the nation during May.

Managing director of the UK TUI specialist long-haul division Clare Tobin said that the country has “always been hugely popular”, which could tempt those searching for a summer holiday spot to search for cheapĀ flights to Bangkok.

Thai islands such as Phuket have long been popular with backpackers and gap year travellers, and the region’s natural beauty has also made it a filming location for movies including The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
