People who book holidays in the hopes of seeing some new and exciting wildlife should consider taking a whale watching trip to South Africa, it has been claimed.
The Daily Telegraph has published a list of the ten best spots for seeing the ocean-going mammals and has included the stretch of coastline between Cape Town and Durban.
According to the newspaper, the waters around the country attract so many whales and dolphins that people can often see them from the cliff tops and beaches.
It advised that the best time to catch a glimpse of the giant creatures is between June and November, with the town of Hermanus holding a Whale Festival each year.
Travellers have up to 1,200 miles of coastline to explore and ample opportunity to view the whales as they follow their migratory route along the edge of South Africa.
Humpback whales, southern right whales and orcas are among the species that tourists can spot on a trip to the region, with 37 different species of whales and dolphins regularly seen around South Africa, according to Whale Route.
