People booking flights to India may want to visit the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, following fresh snowfall.

Anyone who is looking for some snow rather than sunshine should head to the Indian Himalayas following recent snowfall across some of the hill stations.

General manager of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Yogesh Behl has been advising tourists to travel to the region, according to Asian Lite.

The news provider quoted an interview with IANS, in which Mr Behl commented: “We are advising tourists to come and enjoy the cool climes of the hill station and refresh their minds by watching snow-clad peaks.”

He stated that resorts including Manali, Dharamsala and Palampur are among the places to have seen snow settle over recent days.

In 2009, the majority of the 11.4 million tourists to visit the region were Indians, with approximately 400,000 foreigners making the trip.

Earlier this month, the Indian government revealed that foreign tourist arrivals to the country increased by 1.7 per cent during April compared with the same month in the previous year.
