Anyone booking flights to India should make sure that they visit Kerala for an “authentic taste” of the country, one travel writer has claimed.

People who are touching down on flights to India may be intending to visit the southern state of Kerala, which one travel journalist has described as offering “an authentic taste of one of the most invigorating regions in the world”.

Writing for suite101.com, Carly Spencer pointed out that, although Kerala is a popular tourist destination, it has managed to retain its “unique Indian charm”.

She highlighted the resort of Kovalam, which features “a series of sandy bays and authentic fishing villages” that draw travellers in.

Lighthouse Beach is one of the hubs of tourism in the local area, Ms Spencer noted, but she added that visitors can still see the “true Indian spirit” in the ladies selling fruit along the shores of the bay.

Earlier this month, the website suggested that Kerala can offer newlyweds some interesting options for their honeymoons, including houseboat trips through the region’s backwaters and a stay in a tree house resort.
