India is celebrating after it picked up the best destination prize at the World Travel Awards.
More people could be looking to take cheap flights to India after the country was named as the best destination in the world at the World Travel Awards.
Union Tourism Minister Shri Subodh Kant Sahai picked up the trophy for best destination and best marketing campaign from Graham Cooke, chairman of the World Travel Awards, at the ceremony in London on November 8th 2011.
Mr Sahai said that it was a privilege for the country to be given the prize.
“For me it is a great honour to receive these awards on behalf of India,” he added, explaining that it is the plan for the country to build on its success and attract twice as many people in 2016 as it does at present.
Some people who take cheap flights to India will see a range of innovations in the country, with Bangalore recently installing travelators in its main metro station.
