A tour guide from India is among those who have been shortlisted for this year’s World Guide Award.
People booking flights to India may well be planning to take a tour around some of the country’s sights during their stay.
Choosing the right tour guide is never an easy task in a foreign country, but the World Guide Award from Wanderlust magazine helps to highlight some of the best in the business.
One of the nominees for this year’s award is Bali Singh, who works in India.
The publication noted that he “goes out of his way to show people the real India”, adding that readers of the magazine “praised his cheeky smile and infectious sense of fun”.
Other nominees on the eight-strong shortlist include Jeremy Martin – who works as a kayaking guide in Scotland – and Sri Lankan guide Bruno Dawson.
The winner will be announced on September 28th, with the top three guides each receiving bursaries.
Last year, Diego Torres who guides in Ecuador walked away with the gold award, having reached the shortlist three times previously.
