Egypt is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination and this is being helped by a TV series, it has been claimed.

More and more people are booking flights to Egypt this year and the popularity of the country is set to grow with the broadcast of the new television series Tropic of Cancer, one travel expert has stated.

Bruce Poon Tip, founder of Gap Adventures, explained that his company has seen a 200 per cent rise in bookings to Egypt and Morocco.

He noted that the organisation is expecting a further rise in enquiries due to the latest series Tropic of Cancer being shown on the BBC.

Travel journalist Simon Reeve follows the Tropic of Cancer around the world in the ten-part series, which has four episodes left to run.

Mr Poon Tip commented: “Right now, Egypt and Morocco are extremely popular destinations.”

The episode in which Reeve visits Egypt was broadcast on April 3rd and saw him visit the ancient temple of Abu Simbal in the southern part of the country, as well as going diving in the Red Sea.
