People booking flights to Egypt may want to consider visiting one of Egypt’s less well-known Red Sea resorts for a peaceful winter trip.

Tourists booking holidays to Egypt could be tempted away from the standard choice of Sharm El Sheikh by its quieter neighbour, El Gouna, one travel journalist claimed.

Justine Naylan described the town as “beautiful” and continued to call it “the perfect base for a winter getaway”.

Writing in the Daily Mirror, Ms Naylan commented that visitors to the Red Sea region must take a snorkelling trip on the reef to experience the stunning underwater world.

She went on to say that El Gouna is well-placed for a day trip to Cairo, with the pyramids just a short flight away, while the town’s Culturama centre can provide tourists with a host of information before they reach the capital.

Other attractions of the town include its marina, which boasts a lively nightlife, alongside shops and great restaurants, according to Ms Naylan.

El Gouna is a purpose-built resort on the northern Red Sea coast, a short drive north of Hurghada.
