New figures from Dubai International have revealed the airport is welcoming record numbers of visitors.Dubai International handled a total of 4.3 million passengers in July compared to 3.7 in July last year – an increase of 4.3 per cent. It is the first time the airport has handled more than four million passengers in a single month.

So far, traffic in 2010 has reached 26.9 million and is 16 per cent higher than at the same point in 2009, a year on year increase of 14.3 per cent.

In particular, there has been strong growth in passenger numbers from Eastern Europe and Asia. However, traveller volumes remain highest from Western Europe as holidaymakers opt for flights to Dubai on a regular basis.

Paul Griffiths, chief executive officer of Dubai Airports, welcomed the new figures and the airport’s long-term development.

He added: “This is an important milestone that reflects the consistent growth we have seen over the past years.”

Visitors arriving via flights to Dubai can make use of the airport’s department of tourism and commerce marketing desk which is located in the arrivals hall and provides a whole host of information for holidaymakers.
