New figures show that Dubai hotels performed better than anywhere else in the first four months of the year.

Those taking cheap flights to Dubai will find high numbers of tourists in the emirate, with new figures showing hotel occupancy levels in the first four months of the year were higher than anywhere else in the world.Data from Deloitte shows that Dubai hotels enjoyed occupancy rates of 77.4 per cent from January to April, representing growth of 8.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The research found that hotels in Dubai also enjoyed the highest revenue per available room at $195.72 (£136).

Ian Scottt, director UK and Ireland for the government of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said the results show that Dubai still appeals to holidaymakers.

“Occupancy increase for the first four months of the year clearly demonstrate Dubai’s resilience as a tourism destination as the world starts to emerge from the recent economic downturn,” he added.

Fashion house Gucci is set to follow in the foosteps of rival firm Armani and open its own hotel in Dubai, which should be in operation by the end of the year.
