Dubai remains a top destination for those taking flights from London Heathrow, claims airport operator BAA.
Dubai was the only Middle East destination in the top ten and was also ahead of Dublin, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. In particular, the UAE has benefitted from the growth of daily services offers by airlines such as Emirates and British Airways.
“The continued strength of Heathrow reflects an upturn in global economic activity,” said Colin Matthews, the chief executive of BAA.
Although, he added that the recent increase in air passenger duty could result in a slowdown over the coming months.
Passenger numbers at Heathrow increased by 7.2 per cent in October to 6.1 million.
The Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing recently launched a new website aimed at raising the state’s international profile.
