Holidays to Dubai appear popular as passenger numbers at the airport increase again.

Dubai International has welcomed over three million people to the city in September this year.

This represents an increase of 19.5 per cent over the previous month, suggesting that Dubai is a popular destination for those seeking out some winter sun.

Competitive hotel and flight prices, warm weather and exciting attractions are all cited as reasons for the influx of visitors by Dubai Airports’ chief executive officer.

Paul Griffiths said: “It’s clear that even during an economic downturn tourists are finding the allure of Dubai hard to resist.”

He also noted that Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, had been a factor in the increased number of passengers to pass through the airport.

Dubai is set to receive another boost to its tourism industry next month with the Dubai Airshow.

The event, sponsored by Emirates Airline, will run from November 15th to 19th and is expected to attract 50,000 visitors.
