Anyone booking flights to Dubai with Emirates airline will now be able to purchase their visa through the company.

People who have booked flights to Dubai may be waiting until the last minute to buy their visa for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Now one airline in the region aims to make it easier for travellers to purchase their visas ahead of their trip.

Emirates airline is offering its passengers a service that allows them to arrange either a business or leisure visa via its website.

At the present time, only 30-day and 96-hour visas can be processed by the carrier, but it is the only airline in the Middle East to offer such a service.

Travellers that are arranging flights to Dubai can add the visa application on to the normal flight booking process on the Emirates website.

Alternatively, if the flight is booked via a third party, any Emirates ticket holders can log on to the website and submit a visa request separately.

Tourist visas for entry into the UAE, which last for 30 days, are usually sponsored by a hotel or tour operator.

Sponsorship for a transit visa, which is valid for 96-hours, must be provided by an airline and the passenger must have a confirmed onward booking to a third destination.
