People booking cheap flights to Dubai may now be able to add cheap hotel rooms to their list, it has been claimed.
Anyone thinking of jetting off for some sunshine this winter could be in luck regarding price if they select Dubai as a destination.
Research released by hotels.com has revealed that room rates in the emirate have fallen by almost 20 per cent since the first half of the year, prompting bargain-hunting Brits to consider the destination.
The website reported that searches for hotels in Dubai have increased by 570 per cent since the financial crisis took hold of the region at the end of November.
Dubai World, the largest conglomerate in the emirate, sent shockwaves through financial markets when it announced it was seeking a freeze on payments.
This had a knock-on effect in the tourism sector, leading to falling room rates and great deals for travellers.
Alison Couper, director of communications for the company, said: “Dubai is great value at the moment. There are some fantastic promotions from hoteliers in the city.”
She added that now is the best time to “take the holiday you’ve always dreamed of”.
