Aviation in Dubai is alive and kicking despite the recession, one industry insider has said.
Dubai’s aviation industry has not been devastated by the recession and has even managed to bypass the global downturn and display impressive growth, it has been claimed.
According to the country’s department of tourism and commerce marketing, Dubai International Airport is the only airport among the world’s top ten to have recorded positive growth this year.
A spokesperson for the department continued: “Aviation here has defied the global trend and this is testament to the attractiveness of Dubai not just as a transit hub but also as an international destination for both business and tourism.”
Furthermore, they added that the state will undergo further impressive levels of growth that will see new structures rival traditional family holiday destinations.
Figures published by the Dubai department of tourism and commerce marketing in August showed that the region is extremely popular with travellers from Britain and Ireland, who make up 10.6 per cent of the emirate’s total visitor market.
