People travelling to Abu Dhabi could pick up a bargain at the one of the emirate’s flea markets.

Holidaymakers on flights to Abu Dhabi could soon find they can pick up a bargain by heading to a flea market.

The emirate recently held its first ever Second Hand Bazaar at the Sheraton Hotel’s Arzanah Ballroom, the National reported, offering 58 different tables of goods from a variety of sellers.

Martina Venus, the hotel’s public relations director and organiser of the event, told the newspaper that similar markets had proved to be very popular in Dubai, so they thought it could be equally successful in Abu Dhabi.

“We’re thinking of organising the same thing near Christmas time, maybe after Christmas, so people can get rid of all the gifts they got that they don’t like,” Ms Venus explained.

The demand for flights to Abu Dhabi and other Middle Eastern locations has recently been predicted to soar in a report from the Boston Consulting Group, with passenger flows predicted to reach 140 million by 2015.
