Valerie Singleton found Sydney to be a relaxing place around which to navigate – an opinion that those booking cheap holidays in Australia may find encouraging.
Sydney is home to one of the world’s most stress-free commuting systems, according to former Blue Peter presenter Valerie Singleton.
The TV personality visited the city as part of the BBC’s Who do you think you are? series, which sees celebrities delve into their ancestral past to uncover the roots of their family trees.
Ms Singleton, whose grandmother lived in Australia, told the Daily Mail how she took a tour around the outskirts of the famous Sydney Harbour and found travelling to be a relaxing experience – something those who have taken cheap holidays in Australia may well agree with.
“Approaching the city by water is the best way to catch a first sight of the iconic Opera House and the structurally incredible Sydney Harbour Bridge,” she explained.
Other enjoyable aspects of her trip included the sound of a didgeridoo, eating fish and chips in Watson’s Bay and the “charming thirties architecture” of Manly Beach.
Aside from the ease of getting around, another great reason to book a cheap flight to Sydney this year is that the biggest drop in Australian hotel room rates during the first six months of 2009 occurred in Sydney, according to data from Hotels.com.
