Dan Hunter is set to offer a masterclass in creating fine cuisine to those who attend the Hamilton Island Great Barrier Feast.

Travellers taking flights to Australia soon could be among those who get to attend a cookery masterclass offered by one of the country’s top chefs.

Dan Hunter was named chef of the year at The Age Good Food Guide Awards 2012 for his work at the Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, Victoria, but will be taking some time out to attend the Hamilton Island Great Barrier Feast.

“Over the course of a meal I intend to present a range of flavours, textures and temperatures that demonstrate balance and integrity,” said Mr Hunter.

Taking place between December 2nd and 4th 2011, the event will be a celebration of the best food and wine found across the country.

As well as learning how to cook, guests will also be taught about how to select a great wine by esteemed critic James Halliday.

Some people may have already booked flights to Australia to visit Hamilton Island, as the dates for next year’s race week were announced earlier this month.
