British students looking for a university have been urged to buy flights to Australia.
Students in the UK who are looking for a university may wish to combine their studies with holidays in Australia.
Writing for the Independent, Zoe Flood explained that Australian academic institutions encourage British applicants and may consider them even after the clearing process has finished.
Pauline Nunan of Melbourne University said that studying abroad would demonstrate a student’s independence and could make them appear as better candidates when they apply for jobs.
She said that Britons who could not obtain places in their home country would be welcomed at the institution.
“The numbers of British undergraduates are certainly starting to move up,” she commented.
British students in Australia may find measures in place to curb their drinking habits, however.
The Daily Mirror reports action being taken around the world to combat drunkenness.
It notes that Australia tightened its licensing laws last year and brought in extra premiums for alcoholic purchases made in bars.
