People taking flights to Australia, Thailand and other exotic destinations may rethink their packing strategies following the publication of new research.
Many people enjoy reading a good book on their flight to Australia, South Africa or other far-flung destinations.
However, research by Hotels.com indicates that more than a third (38 per cent) of Brits believe they are overzealous when it comes to packing their hardbacks and paperbacks and do not manage to read through everything they take with them.
The company found that the average traveller takes a minimum of three books with them on holiday, but only manages to read one or two of them – which could mount up to a hefty excess baggage charge.
Alison Couper, communications director for the organisation, said: “Reading is a great way to unwind on holiday but perhaps holidaymakers should be realistic about how many books they need to take with them.”
In a recent study by Penguin and Teletext Holidays it was found that For Crying Out Loud by Jeremy Clarkson is the UK’s favourite book to read while on holiday.
