Ski resorts in Australia are celebrating the arrival of the heaviest August snowfall in 25 years.According to Snowboardclub.co.uk, the resorts of Mt Buller and Perisher are enjoying the best snow in years and could produce ideal conditions for those enjoying cheap flights to Australia in the next few weeks.

“We smashed the record books with some of the best snow the mountain has seen in years!” explained a spokesperson for Mt Buller.

He added the Victoria resort has now had around 34cms of snow in the past few days.

Perisher had also had a record August with over 30cm of fresh snow in the final days of the month, adding to the 2.6 metres of snow since the start of the month.

Mt Buller is a three hour drive from Melbourne and has a mix of courses designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers. It has a total of 22 lifts and is the closest alpine resort to any international airport in Australia.
