See some of the world’s very best street performers taking part in the annual buskers festival.

Travellers taking flights to Christchurch could find the streets of the city are the most entertaining place to be in the coming days, as the city is hosting the World Buskers Festival.

The event began on January 19th 2012 but is continuing through to January 29th, offering plenty of opportunities for people to get out and see some of the incredible performances.

Around 500 different acts will be taking part, with shows ranging from juggling and singing through to stand-up comedians and acrobats.

While most of the events are free to attend, visitors are requested to make a small donation to the performers in recognition of their impressive and often unique skills.

Some people who take flights to Christchurch could be planning to travel on to Auckland, as the city is set to host the first Big Day Out festival of 2012, with headline sets planned from the likes of Kanye West and Kasabian.
