Wellington is celebrating the arrival of its annual Arts Festival.

Wellington is hosting its annual Arts Festival and this year’s shows and exhibits promise to be among the most memorable yet.

The 24-day long New Zealand International Arts Festival is well underway in the city and has already seen a wide array of interesting and unusual performances taking place.

While there are many events that need to be booked in advance, there are also smaller acts playing across the city and even street theatre, which is taking the excitement of the festival out to the people as they go about their daily lives.

Among the performances people can see in the city are the circuses Cantina and Circenses, while giant puppet show Raoul and blues band Tinariwen are also on the bill.

Those attending the festival with children will also find plenty to do, as a special line up of events that are suitable for the youngest members of the family has been created by the organisers.
