Anyone heading abroad for a week or less this Easter period could consider trying the hand luggage only option when it comes to their bags, it has been suggested.

An article on the Skyscanner website points out that doing so will save time waiting at security and at the carousel upon arrival, as well as being cheaper – most airlines do not charge for hand luggage.

“Just think back to your last trip; did you honestly use every single item you packed?” the article points out, suggesting that items such as hair dryers and multiple pairs of shoes could be left at home.

However, important things such as health insurance information and emergency contact details, as well as any medication, should always be packed in an easily accessible place, Skyscanner stresses.

According to data recently released by the car hire comparison site carrentals.co.uk, there has been a 15 per cent increase in advanced bookings for Easter 2009 when compared with last year.
