The 2012 Indian Premier League will kick start from the 4th April and will go on till 27th May, and is sure to attract cricket buffs from all over the globe.
The opening ceremony will be held in YMCA College of Physical Education Nandanam in Chennai and if reports are to be believed then the likes of pop star Katy Perry are set to perform at the ceremony. Bollywood’s major stars like Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan are also slated to show their dancing moves at the opening ceremony.
Cricket is big in India with a huge following across all sections of the society. India, cricket world champions, started off this cash-rich league in 2008 and since then this domestic competition has been marred by controversies and scandals. However, the organisers of the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are confident that they will be successful in pulling off the event triumphantly.
“With four highly successful seasons behind us, we hope to raise the standards of the competition even higher, as we look forward to celebrating DLF IPL 2012 with much fanfare, starting with Opening Nite,” said IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla in the press release.
IPL matches are to be held in cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai, most of which are top holiday destinations that witness a stream of holiday makers anyway.
