Anyone keen on taking a nature-spotting break may wish to book holidays to Australia to visit Heron or Wilson Island.

This is according to Gill Williams, writing for the Mirror, who recently visited both to investigate what they have to offer.

The islands are situated within the Capricorn National Park and are ideal for spotting a variety of sea creatures, with as many as a thousand different species around the islands, compared to only 500 in the whole of the Atlantic Ocean.

Ms Williams commented: “[Heron and Wilson are] coral gems turned into holiday resorts that prove you can still be eco-friendly without compromising on luxury.”

Heron Island is approximately 50 miles off the coast of Australia and can be reached by flights to Gladstone via Brisbane.

Last month, David Potts, writing for the Sydney Morning Herald, suggested that a trip to Fraser Island’s Kingfisher Bay may also be ideal for nature lovers as it ranks with the Great Barrier Reef in terms of diversity.
