Cape Town’s airport has been named as the best in Africa

Cape Town International Airport has been given the accolade of being the best in Africa by the Airports Council International.

The Airport Service Quality Awards were announced by the group ahead of the formal awards ceremony, which will take place in Singapore in May.

Deidre Davids, communications manager at Airports Company South Africa, said that receiving the award is good news not only for the airport, but also for the region and the country as a whole.

“By achieving consistent awards in various industries, Cape Town continues to positively position itself on the global map,” Ms Davids added.

East London Airport in South Africa was also recognised for being the most improved in service excellence.

It is hoped the awards will help to boost the country’s tourist numbers, with Table Mountain recently being named one of the new seven wonders of nature.

Gary Barlow has also recently been praising his time in Cape Town on his Twitter feed, calling it a “beautiful place”.
