People choosing holidays this year are being tempted by destinations where they can see the most sunshine, it has been revealed.

Some 48 per cent of people from the UK said that they would be happy to go anywhere with warm weather in response to a poll by add-on website Holiday Extras.

Meanwhile, despite the publicity surrounding the credit crunch, 31 per cent of people said they would still choose to travel abroad this spring over holidaying in Britain.

Mike Whiting, Holiday Extras spokesperson, said he is not surprised that people are keen to try and find guaranteed sunshine.

“While some people will certainly be choosing to holiday closer to home, tourism abroad is still high on the agenda for most,” he added.

Holidays to Thailand’s islands could be good for guaranteed sunshine – Sky.com particularly recommends Phi Phi Island for relaxation, beautiful beaches and activities such as scuba diving and kayaking.
