Sharjah is a scintillating emirate of the UAE and is known as the Cultural Capital of the country as it has beautifully preserved its heritage and traditions. Much less flamboyant than its southern neighbour Dubai, this city is none-the-less a fantastic family-friendly destination. Kids love to engage in the endless entertainment avenues, while adults can explore the art galleries and historical monuments here. Here is a look at some of the best attractions of Sharjah, which you must explore on your next visit to the emirate.

One of the most prominent landmarks of Sharjah, the Al Noor Mosque also happens to be one of the very few mosques open to tourists in Sharjah. The mosque is located at the Khaled lagoon on the Buhaira Corniche. This is the first public beach in Sharjah and is equipped with many facilities that allow visitors to engage in these two activities. While here, you can try kayaking, kite surfing, parasailing, banana boat rides and fly board rides among other water sports. The beach also has volleyball and beach tennis courts. And, after playing such gruelling sports you can head straight to the beachside cafe to savour fresh juices and delicacies. Its central location close to Al Khan historic area and Sharjah Aquarium gives you lots to do after leaving the beach.
