Tony Blair has been paying a visit to Thailand as part of a trip to promote the English language.

Brits taking flights to Bangkokcould see Tony Blair during their stay as the former prime minister is currently in the city.

Blair has headed to Thailand in order to promote speaking English across the country and paid a visit to a school to act as an English teacher for the afternoon to a group of children.

He was greeted by 100 children of various ages as he helped to promote the 2012 English Speaking Year that has been created by the Thai Education Ministry.

As part of the scheme, it is calling for children to spend one day a week speaking English.

When asked by a six-year-old if he liked Thailand, Blair replied: “Yes I do. I like Thailand for many reasons. I also spent my honeymoon in Thailand.”

More people could be taking flights to Bangkok soon as it was announced last month that Thai Airways was to start a code sharing agreement with Turkish Airlines.
