Archer Entertainment has announced that it is to film new movie Kings of the Sea in the south Asian country, the first of ten that will be produced over the next six years to depict the adventures of infamous pirate Blackbeard.

Chief executive of Archer David Wardlow said Thailand is the perfect location for the films.

“The strange and beautiful limestone scenery around this area contains a secret world of caves, tunnels and interior lagoons and will showcase to the world what an amazing destination Thailand offers,” he commented.

Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach, was a notorious English pirate in the Caribbean Sea and Western Atlantic during the early 18th century.

Although he is not known to have actually killed anyone, he cultivated a fearsome reputation through his plundering of merchant ships.
