People from the UK are increasingly taking holidays to Thailand in order to undergo medical treatment while benefiting from a holiday at the same time.

This is according to the Bangkok Post, which reports that cosmetic surgery is becoming big business in the country and that a wide range of procedures are available.

Dr Amorn Poomee, a surgeon in the south Asian country, said that 80 per cent of his patients are now from abroad, including the UK and that the most popular surgeries are liposuction, breast augmentation and tummy tucks.

“‘Thai doctors are second to none. We can compete with any country,” he commented.

People recovering from surgery in Thailand may wish to take the time to visit a future film set.

Last month, Archer Entertainment announced that it is to film new movie Kings of the Sea in the south Asian country, the first of ten that will be produced over the next six years to depict the adventures of infamous pirate Blackbeard.
