Destinations in Asia are ideal for travellers, it has been claimed.

People booking flights to India or those travelling to Thailand will be pleased to hear that their choice of destination has the approval of ABTA – The Travel Association.

According to the organisation, Bangkok in Thailand and Goa in India are two “extremely popular” tourist hotspots in Asia.

“Bangkok and Thailand are extremely popular, with the package holiday market and also independent travellers. India and Goa are very popular,” a spokeswoman explained.

She added that Pakistan, which does not have a particularly good reputation due to its safety record, can also be an enjoyable place to visit.

“Foreign Office advice has been fairly negative over recent years, in terms of Pakistan, but it has amazing culture and landscape attractions,” the ABTA representative added.

“It is not really a holiday [destination] at the moment. It is very popular with the VFL market – visiting friends and relatives.”

ABTA represents more than 6,000 travel agencies in the UK.
