The Putahracsa in Hua Hin has come out top in a listing of the world’s leading budget boutique hotels.

Reuters reports that research by Mr & Mrs Smith has discovered that there are many affordable boutique hotels that could appeal to those taking flights to Thailand on a modest budget.

Offering 59 rooms, the Putahracsa is in the style of a 1960s motel and offers an alternative to traditional hotels in the centre of Bangkok. Located by the coast, it offers guests the chance to relax by the pool or enjoy a treatment at its luxury spa.

Guests can also rent an oceanside villa with its own private Jacuzzi for the duration of their stay.

Other hotels praised in the study include the Cullen in Melbourne, Australia and Alila Manggis in Bali, Indonesia.
