Phuket’s numerous beaches make it an ideal destination for those who want to relax and take in the sun.

Thailand has no shortage of great destinations to explore, with the hustle and bustle of the capital Bangkok likely to be on every tourist’s to-do list.

However, those who want to spend some of their time in the country relaxing on the beach should consider Phuket, located in the south of the country approximately 862km from the capital.

It boasts an impressive array of beaches, with those on the south coast generally busier than the areas found to the north.

All of the major beaches, including Patong, Kata, Nai Han and Nai Yang, offer the chance for visitors to try out activities such as diving, snorkelling and windsurfing, making them ideal for people who want to try their hand at watersports.

However, Phuket is far from just a beach paradise and all visitors should attempt to make time to see Laem Phromthep, a cape located around 2km from Rawai Beach that is one of the city’s most important landmarks.
