People going on holidays to Thailand should not miss a visit to the picturesque Hong Lagoon, it has been suggested.

According to IceNews, the lagoon – which is situated on Hong Island in the Than Bokoranee National Park – is one of the most striking landmarks in the region.

“Its beaches are ideal for picnic lunches, nature walks or just soaking up the atmosphere,” the news site states.

Other activities travellers can enjoy while visiting include kayaking, snorkelling and diving, as well as looking out for Peter, the resident giant monitor lizard.

The mangroves are also cited as being ecologically important as a breeding area for fish and other sea life.

Earlier this month, Times journalist Louise Roddon said how much she enjoyed her own holidays to Thailand, where she visited an elephant rehabilitation centre in Hang Dong, among other things.

Anyone going to Thailand could book flights with Thai Airways, which is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand and was established in 1960.
