Britons who opt to take a holiday in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal region may be impressed by the beaches that the destination has to offer.

This is according to the tourist board that claims that some of the “world’s best beaches” are located in the South African territory.

Hibberdene, Ramsgate, Margate and Marina/San Lameer beaches on the south coast of the region have all been awarded the international Blue Flag status.

With water temperatures capable of reaching 28 degrees Celsius, the coastline of KwaZulu-Natal boasts the warmest sea temperatures in South Africa.

According to Tourism KwaZulu Natal, the seas tend to stay above 20 degrees Celsius in temperature even during the winter season so visitors can enjoy surfing, diving and swimming all year round.

Lucky travellers on a holiday in South Africa may even catch a glimpse of loggerhead and leatherback turtles that breed on the region’s beaches between October and March.

Travellers visiting Durban in December may wish to catch the sights of the women’s surf event, the Roxy Wahine Cup, which will take place on the Golden Mile.
