People heading to Cape Town could have a great time after the city was rated highly by tourists.

Travellers taking flights to Cape Town could be in for a treat after the city was given a high rating by fellow holidaymakers.

People who visited the South African city over the festive season were asked to rate their experience at Cape Town International Airport, with international travellers deciding to give the city 8.5 out of ten.

This figure was reached based on the ratings given by people relating to their experiences in terms of safety, enjoyment and fun.

Some of the city’s most popular landmarks also saw a rise in visitors over Christmas, with the Table Mountain Cableway, Cape Point and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, all seeing a spike in numbers.

“We will be placing special emphasis on increasing standards of service delivery in our province by calling on all hospitality establishments to up their game,” said Western Cape Tourism representative Alan Winde.

The news comes shortly after Nombulelo Mfeka, city director for tourism, stated efforts are being made to encourage more people to take flights to Cape Town this year.
