Look Forward to Fun Times at Funworld

What do kids love more than an amusement park? Well, another amusement park. So while you are in Durban, make sure you take your kids to Funworld, a beachfront amusement park. The park is one of the projects on the Golden Mile, a 5kms stretch of white, sandy beaches. Among the rides that your kids will most enjoy are Breakdance, Swingboat, Elephant Ride Carousal and more. For an aerial view of the surrounding areas, you can take the cable car with your family.

Go Biking With Your Family at Giba Gorge

Durban boasts great weather for most part of the year, which is why it is just about perfect for spending a day outdoor with your family. Head to the Giba Gorge Mountain Bike Park in Hillcrest and get an adrenaline rush while riding a bicycle on an excellent BMX track and a 40km mountain bike trail that takes you through farmlands looking over the Umtamvuna River Gorge. After you’ve had your dose of adventure, you can make way to the restaurant and the picnic area here for the much needed nourishment.

Meet Crocodiles and Snakes at PheZulu Safari Park

Leave the city and travel for just about half an hour to reach the PheZulu Safari Park, where your kids will be thrilled at watching the crocodiles and snakes found in large numbers here. Among the string of activities that you can undertake here is scenic Game Drive into the Valley of a Thousand Hills, an encounter with the famous Gasa clan at the Phezulu Village as well as witnessing the Zulu Dancing Show. Grab a delicious meal at the kids-oriented Spaza Restaurant or treat your family to the breathtaking views of the Valley of a Thousand Hills while you eat at the famous Boma Restaurant.

Ride a Train at the Umgeni Steam Railway

Give your kids a feel of the old-world by exploring the Valley of 1000 hills aboard a vintage steam engine-run train on the Umgeni Railway. The train runs of the last Sunday of every month between the Kloof Station and the Inchanga Station and back in the morning and in the noon. When the train stops at the Inchanga Station, you can shop for souvenirs at the nearby craft market or take pony rides with your family. On your way back, you can explore the Stokers Arms pub at the Kloof Station.
