Vist Port Elizabeth, on the Eastern Cape’s frontier line.
South Africa’s fifth largest city, Port Elizabeth remains something of a hidden gem for tourists, nestled in the exquisite Mandela Bay of the Eastern Cape.
Known as the Windy City, it has plenty of activities to keep tourists entertained, including day trips to game lodges and a visit to the fantastic Addo Elephant National Park.
In the cultural hub of Grahamstown, travelers will discover a perfect example of frontier country – where different peoples and cultures clashed throughout so much of the country’s existence, but today live and work side by side.
There are signs of many different cultures here, including the Khoi, Xhosa, Boer and British.
Why not head along to Algoa Bay, which boasts 40km of beaches with plenty of great opportunities for swimming, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and sailing.
If you’re looking for adrenaline-filled opportunities, there will also be chances for skydiving, hang-gliding, abseiling, river rafting and mountaineering, as well as the opportunity to observe some of nature’s deadliest predators.
