People travelling to Cape Town later this year may be interested to learn about a performing arts festival taking place in the city.

Anyone who has booked flights to Cape Town next month could be in luck as their visit may coincide with a performing arts festival taking place in the city.

Running from February 13th to 20th, the Infecting the City event will see creative artists from around the world taking over Cape Town’s streets and public places.

Travellers can expect to find a varied array of works on offer, including art installations, choreographed pieces and collaborative performance works, What’s On When informed.

Each year’s festival revolves around a central theme and in 2010 it is Human Rite.

Audiences will be given the opportunity to see a series of evocative works of ritual healing, which offer “a transformative journey that celebrates our fundamental right to be human,” the website noted.

This is the third time that the festival has taken place in the city, with all the works and performances on offer at no cost.
