Durban’s beaches will suit all holidaymakers.

The wide choice of beaches on offer in Durban make it a perfect choice for those planning a holiday in South Africa who want to spend some time relaxing on the sand.

Durban receives around 320 days of sunshine per year and is home to beaches suitable for a wide range of activities.

Addington Beach, located close to the harbour entrance, features gentle waves that make it an ideal place to learn to surf, while Anstey Beach is suited to experienced surfers thanks to its full exposure to the ocean.

For those who prefer to just sunbathe in a secluded spot and take the occasional dip Umhlanga’s Bronze Beach could be perfect, while Umdloti, Salt Rock and Zinkwazi are cater for families, states the country’s official tourism body.

Beaches are far from the only attraction Durban has to offer, as the city – the most popular domestic holiday city in the country – is home to the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall, as well as an array of art deco and Victorian architecture.
