Cape Town has plenty besides Table Mountain

“Discover why Cape Town warms up in winter” is the message from the city’s tourist board as it bids to make sure that one of the most popular destinations in Africa stays that way during the colder months.

It is hoping to do so by promoting a different view of the city besides the postcard views of Table Mountain and the sandy beaches – focusing instead on other offerings, such as the diverse range of foods and wines, adventure activities and shopping.

Key winter events this year are the Good Food and Wine Festival taking place from May 24th to 27th, Cape Town Fashion Week from July 25th to 28th and the Cape Town Marathon taking place on September 23rd.

CEO of Cape Town Tourism Mariette du Toit-Helmbold said: “Many perceptions exist around winter being an undesirable time to visit.

“Locals and repeat visitors to Cape Town know the Mother City differently.”
