British people may wish to snap up holidays to Cape Town after the destination was voted best for entertainment at the International Luxury Travel Exhibition in Switzerland.

According to TravelWires.com, the South African city received top honours thanks to its wide range of restaurants, tours, shopping and cultural offerings, as well as its high-quality accommodation.

Accepting the award, Cape Town tourism chief executive Mariette du-Toit Helmbold said the world seems to have a love affair with the destination.

“The level of authenticity one can experience whilst also enjoying a luxury experience is a key part of Cape Town’s allure,” she added.

Last month, holidays to Cape Town were highly recommended by travel writer Mickey Mcmonagle of the Scottish Sunday Mail, who said that not only is it cheap, but it is unlike anywhere else he has ever been to.

Visitors may wish to take tours to Table Mountain or go cage diving with Great White sharks during their stay.
