Jet Airways has announced plans to offer daily flights from Delhi to Milan.The new agreement with Italian airline Alitalia means the flights will begin on December 5th and could help to boost tourism between the two countries.

Alitalia’s chairman Roberto Colaninno explained the code-sharing deal would be “a further step in Alitalia’s strategy of growing on the global marketplace and follows the key agreements that Alitalia already signed with Aeroflot, Etihad and Vietnam Airlines”.

Under the deal between the airlines, passengers travelling with the companies will be able to benefit from joint frequent flier programmes and cargo services.

Jet Airways currently covers 33 India destinations, including offering flights to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.

The company is also planning to relocate its current domestic headquarters to the new high-tech Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at the end of the month.
