The leading brand’s newest India hotel will be the Hilton Chennai, which will offer 204 rooms over ten floors. In addition, there will also be 7,000 square feet of dedicated event space to attract commercial and business users.

Offering five-star accommodation, it could appeal to holidaymakers taking flights to Chennai looking for a luxury hotel option.

The property is currently owned by Empee Group and cost a total of Rs 400 crore (£3.3 million) to develop.

M P Purushothaman, chairman of the Empee Group, said: “We are confident that through Hilton’s international hotel management expertise and Empee Group’s strong local knowledge and network, Hilton Chennai will be the preferred hotel for local and international business as well as for leisure travellers in India.”

Hilton Hotels & Resorts recently agreed a new deal to develop two resort projects in Thailand, which are to be completed by 2012.
