If you’ve ever dreamt of taking a holiday to somewhere warm and simply not coming back for several months, you may be interested in an article by the Guardian’s Piers Moore Ede, who offers some tips on how to take a long break – without breaking the bank.

He said that since the pound goes a long way in long haul countries and flights are currently cheap, now may be the ideal time to take extended holidays to India.

Mr Moore Ede said he did this himself, heading off to Gokarna and Verkala and staying almost seven months.

“Great cheap food, gorgeous beaches, a rich and fascinating culture mean this part of India is perfect for chilling out without ever getting bored,” he remarked.

The expert suggested opting for accommodation off the beaten track in order to negotiate a better deal, walking everywhere to save money on taxis and cutting down on alcohol to make budgets go further.

Cheap flights to India are available from both Air India and Qatar Airways via Southall Travel.
