Former OC actress Mischa Barton has blogged about how she is trying to master a traditional Indian instrument during her spare time from filming a new movie there.

The 22-year-old spent Christmas in southern Goa while making Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain and said that she had one thing on her mind when she knew she would be filming in India.

“I must say my goal coming here was to learn to play the sitar. It’s coming along real slow as apparently it’s not that easy to procure a great sitar teacher here,” she commented – although perhaps she has not considered that it could be the pupil and not the teacher at fault for her slow progress.

Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain tells the story of the 1984 disaster at a Union Carbide factory, which is remembered as one of the world’s worst ever industrial accidents and saw thousands of people die after exposure to poisonous gases.
