Indian tourism chiefs are hoping to attract more people to the Arippa forests.

Thiruvananthapuram is a vibrant city that is a popular choice that with people looking to experience a taste of India.

Not only does it have the unique atmosphere that many people associate with the country, but it is set in the heart of some stunning forest scenery and tourist authorities in Kerala are hoping more people will venture outside of Thiruvananthapuram.

The Western Ghats are already Unesco World Heritage sites and in the near future it is hoped that the Arippa forests which sit on the foothills will be boosted by a host of new tourism facilities.

New guest houses and camping sites will be sent up for tourists wanting to see the unique wildlife and the spectacular Thenmala and Mankayam waterfalls, reports the Times of India.

Members of the local Kani tribe are also to be trained as guides to help tourists explore the intricacies of Arippa and the Ghats.
